Zoals geweten, bestaat Amerika uit een kleine 50-tal staten, er zijn er natuurlijk die uitblinken, maar wat wandelen betreft, zijn het niet zo zeer de staten die uitblinken, maar de wandelroutes zelf die een leven gaan leiden na verloop van tijd. De namen van bepaalde routes werden wereldbekend, zoals bijvoorbeeld, wat onze eigen Belgische tandarts aflegde in een recordtijd van 32 en een halve dag, ipv 3 maanden. Het gaat hier echter over de Appalachian trail van een dikke 3500 km. En zo heb je er in Amerika wel meer van die speciale wandelroutes.
Gaat het nu over bergen, de zee, de warme regio's, de verlaten jungle, of over plaatsen waar nooit niemand komt, Amerika heeft ze allemaal. Van Arizona tot Alaska, van de grens met Mexico tot de Beringzee met zicht op Rusland, overal is hier avontuur te vinden. Zo heb je in Amerika wereldbekende nationale parken als Yellowstone, en Yosemite die spreken tot de verbeelding van de mensen. Wandelen in deze streken is mogelijk met wandelgidsen, of wandelkaarten Bibliotrek. Zelfs al neem je een citytrip naar één van de vele majestueuze steden dan nog blijft het daar een uitdaging en een wandelervaring. Hier zoekt men echt de natuur op om te gaan wandelen, in de USA is wandelen in de stad alleen al een avontuur.
Sierra Nevada USA
Niemand is echt opgewassen tegen de km's in de USA, daar zult u nooit zonder afstanden vallen op uw wandeltochten. Regionale parken zijn er in overvloed, net als wandelroutes, want elke staat heeft zo zijn eigen locaties. Er zijn zo'n 932 miljoen Amerikanen, die u een idee geeft over hoe groot dit land wel is. Dus we gaan u ook niet vertellen, hoeveel nationale en regionale parken er zijn. Aan u om te weten waar u heen wenst te gaan.
